Middle Earth

In the ground there lived a hobbit...........a timeless story starter. From the minute readers first read this line in J.R.R. Tolkien's classic book, they were whisked off to a magical fantasy world. However, there may be many who have wanted to visit this world themselves. Now, you can travel to Middle Earth itself and immerse yourself in the stories of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.

Located in the northeast corner of the park, you have to either take a ferry or go through Jumanji to get here. Once you do get here, you enter a Hobbit village where you can dine and shop, Hobbit House and Gandalf's Magical Supply are shops while Frodo's Food, Pleasure Pit, and Hillside Pub are restaurants. A family ride, Shire Swings is also in the area. The Prancing Pony is located north of here.
The scenery takes a darker turn as you are taken to Rohan as you walk further on. Here, in a recreation of Helm's Deep, you can ride a 4-D roller coaster, Lord of the Rings: Battle for the Lost Rings, where you join the Fellowship on a quest to gather the rings of Middle Earth before the Dark Lord Sauron does. The ride exits into Helm's Deep Armory.

Further down is a recreation of Lake-Town AKA Esgaroth. Here, you can shop and dine at Dwarven Diner or Elven Eats, or you can ride a water ride, The Hobbit: Navigation of Esgaroth, where you and Bilbo Baggins navigate Lake-Town while trying to keep some precious items hidden from dark forces. The ride exits into Lake-Town Treasures. Lake-Town Tavern is also in the area.

To be honest, I haven't seen Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit, but I based this off what I did know. I do know that Peter Jackson's adaptations of the books have received acclaim from critics and fans, and the third Lord of the Rings won Best Picture of 2003 (with its two predecessors being nominated for the award in 2001 and 2002). However, you don't see this kind of stuff in theme parks. I did once see it in a Disney concept map, but I thought Middle Earth would go better in a Universal park what with the franchise being owned by New Line Cinema, which is owned by Warner Bros. Plus, I wanted to use this map I found of Middle Earth from the internet in a blog post. I just hope that this would be acceptable enough for true Middle Earth fans.

Middle Earth is licensed from Warner Bros.
